It was an emotionally intense scene with a lot of build-up. Old Yeller gets bitten, then he is penned up, then he gets sick, then he tries to bite, then Travis gets the gun, then…you know the rest. For a long time, I didn’t even want to watch Savage Sam which turned out to be an altogether fun story. Some things just touch us deeply. Maybe it is a book, a movie, or even the Bible.
In John 1 we can read some of the saddest verses of the Bible. While Jesus is declared to be God and Creator starting in John 1:1, by the time we come to John 1:10, we read something heartbreaking. The world which Jesus had created did not know Him. The sad story doesn’t stop there because in John 1:11 it is written that He wasn’t just unknown, but some people actually rejected Him! It is written in John 1:10 that Jesus, the Creator of the world, was unknown by the very world He created. That is heartbreaking. The glorious God of John 1 was unknown by some and rejected by others. The Scripture doesn’t stop there – look at the next verse. In John 1:12 we read that as many as received Him were given the right, the power, the authority to become God’s children – it is a message that demands a response.
Will you ignore Jesus, reject Jesus, or accept Him by doing what He says? That choice is one that only you can make. Will your story be a sad one or a happy one?
Please plan on dropping by once the isolation is over!
