If I don’t finish a project before the end of the day, then there is a good chance that when I come back to it the next day, I will ask myself, “What was I thinking?” Until I remember what I was thinking, “I lose the bubble,” and just stare at it. Sometimes I think I know what I was thinking, and then later realize my original forgotten idea was better than what I came up with after I forgot what I was thinking. Sound familiar to anyone out there?
God doesn’t “lose the bubble.” He doesn’t lay a project down and wonder later how He should finish it. When we see the beginning of God’s plan, we don’t know the end of it and begin to wonder, “What is God thinking?” What God has in mind is far greater than we can imagine.
In John 11:21-25, Martha is grieving the loss of her brother, Lazarus. She comes to Jesus and tells Him that if He had been there, her brother would not have died. Jesus tells her that Lazarus would rise again. Martha doesn’t appreciate what God is saying and affirms that Lazarus will, indeed, rise again on the last day. But He has something far greater in mind—Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Jesus will raise Lazarus from the dead long before the last day because He hadn’t forgotten about Lazarus or Martha or Mary. He had something greater than they could imagine in mind for them.
God has something greater in mind for you too! Study the Bible with me and find out what that is.
