People fight, sometimes like cats and dogs. If that were not so, there would be no countries, politics, or generational gaps. It seems that people are drawn to conflict like mosquitos to a bug zapper. It doesn’t have to be that way.
In Acts 13:1, there were five prophets and teachers gathered in Antioch. The two most surprising names are Saul and Manaen. Saul had been a Pharisee and would have been raised hating the Roman occupation of the Holy Land. Manaen had been raised as an aristocrat, participating in that occupation. They should have fought like cats and dogs. Instead, they were in full fellowship. The gospel was powerful enough to reconcile these enemies.
Imagine the Hatfields and McCoys. Their historic feud even has its own Wikipedia. If ever there were people who fought like cats and dogs, these would be them. Could a Hatfield and a McCoy ever be at peace with one another? Yes. Absolutely. In preaching school, I met a Hatfield. He was married to a McCoy. They did NOT fight like cats and dogs. How could this be? The gospel is still powerful enough to reconcile enemies. Are you in need of the power of the gospel? Are you weary of the conflict you see each day? Sit down over an open Bible and see for yourself the power of the gospel in lives today.
