How Could He Do That?

Sometimes this is a negative question, but sometimes a positive one. For example, Thom’s cancer came back with a vengeance. The morphine was no longer working, and he was in horrible pain. Then Violet walks in, and for the duration of his grandchild’s visit, he smiles and listens to her talk about her 4-H project. How is he able to do that?

In Acts 12:1-7, it is written that Peter was imprisoned, chained to guards, and awaiting a death sentence on the next day. We would expect Peter to be up all night praying for deliverance. Instead, we see Peter was asleep. He slept so soundly that when an angel came to rescue him, the angel had to strike Peter on the side to get him to wake up! How could he do that?

Peter was unconcerned about his physical well-being. He knew that if they killed him, he would go to Heaven. He also knew that if the Lord wanted to, God would get Peter out of the predicament. As far as Peter must have seen it, it was a win-win proposition for him.Do you want to live your life with that level of assurance? Sit down over an open Bible and study about the salvation from God that brings such peace. We can also study about how to obtain such peace.
