Some people are born to be in sales. I was not. Most aren’t. So what makes someone so good at sales? Is it the gift of the gab or an innate ability to convince others against their will? If we don’t have the gift, can we ever do a job that requires it? Yes! The secret to sales is not skill or personality. The secret is attitude. If one sale doesn’t work out, then try the next one. If that one doesn’t pan out, try the next one. The mantra that accompanies this attitude is, “There is always one more.”
In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas were forced to leave a town named Iconium and fled to the communities of Lystra and Derbe. It is then written in verse 7, “and there they continued to preach the gospel.” Paul and Barnabas had the attitude of, “There is always one more.” Since things didn’t work out in one place, they moved on to the next. That is the attitude Jesus wanted them to have and still wants today. If one prospect pans out, move on to the next.
Even today, there is always one more. One more person to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. One more person to study their Bible. One more person to be baptized. Here is the best part, you are one of those “one more.” Jesus lived, died, and lived again, bringing salvation from one person to the next. You can be one more.
