No Vacancies

by | Sep 25, 2020

Have you ever noticed the unlit “NO” before the “VACANCIES” sign at a roadside motel? It is a clever way to send one of two messages, “We have room, stop here!” or “We have no room, keep going.” Finding “NO VACANCIES” on a trip is frustrating, but living your life feeling there is no place to welcome you breaks the heart.

John 14:1-2 states, “Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”

Jesus’ disciples were about to feel like they didn’t fit in anywhere, so Jesus tells them to take the long view. Since Jesus prepares a place, He will ensure that a “NO VACANCIES” sign never stands before it.

Today, Jesus still has a place prepared for all who would be His disciple. Being His disciple has a price. Often we lose family, friends, or maybe even jobs. We might feel that no one has room for us in their life. So take the long view. If we believe God created the world, then we can trust Jesus prepared an eternal home for us too.

Do you feel like you don’t fit in anywhere? Are you tired and looking for rest. Then sit down with me over an open Bible and see for yourself that there is room for you in God’s kingdom.

We don’t have a “VACANCIES” sign in front of our building, but there IS room for you on Sunday. Come and see! We are excited to meet you!
